PHMI's project experience includes work in over 40 countries, ranging from the planning and design of new faciliites and institutions, programs focused on improving quality in existing organizations, and strategic planning for new initiatives.
LAU will commence its fi rst medical school class in the fall of 2009 in temporary facilities. Construction of their permanent home is now underway. This institution has worked closely with PHMI to fashion an American-style education program with a strong focus on active learning and research.
This relationship has featured collaborative work on all elements of medical school development, including creation of a governance structure and recruitment of academic leadership, physical infrastructure, recruitment of faculty and leadership mdevelopment, and exploration of innovative educational approaches such as simulation. PHMI continues to play a strong supporting role in shaping the mission of this new institution.
The opening date of the new medical school at the Lebanese American University is still more than a year away. Yet LAU is already establishing itself in the Lebanese academic medical community.
