Program Design & Implementation

High-quality clinical and educational programs

In schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health, the institutional mission is expressed in the curriculum, which provides the basis for educational approaches and infrastructure and systems to support the activities of faculty, students, and leadership. Similarly, in health delivery organizations, the clinical program plan is at the heart of decision-making about facilities planning and design, operational systems, and workforce development.

PHMI assists with the development of clinical and educational program plans to support high-quality patient-centered care and student-centered education. This work proceeds from an understanding of the environment in which the programs will be implemented. Local standards and practices, regulatory requirements, and market demands are all taken into consideration. PHMI works with clients to lay the groundwork for programs that address these factors while also following an evidence-based best practices approach.

Key questions

  • How can clinical or educational programs be developed in order to align with defined needs?
  • What opportunities exist to achieve operational efficiency and/or innovation through the design of new programs or program reform?
  • How can the planning and design of programs help to foster staff satisfaction and teamwork?
  • What governance systems must be in place to ensure accountability and quality of the programs within their respective institutions?
  • How should the programs be assessed to support continuous quality improvement?
